Name the opening first
Say whether this is a household garage door, an ordinary walking door or the entrance to managed parking. Brickell’s building garages make that distinction useful: a shared gate and its access controls are not automatically part of private garage-door repair.
Give the responsible property contact and check the capability for the exact equipment before arranging work.
Use the movement you already saw
Describe no movement, a partial opening, reversal, an unusual sound or a door that looks crooked. Mention which control was used and where the door stopped.
There is no need to run another cycle for a better description. Do not try to lift an uneven door, adjust springs or cables, or operate an unfamiliar manual release.
Keep the immediate need separate
A car inside may be the reason you noticed the fault, but it does not make unsafe operation a useful test. Explain whether the car is inside or outside and whether another walking entrance is available.
If the problem is actually a keyed pedestrian door, lock repair is a separate request. Your description should identify what has failed without assuming which part needs replacing.
Discuss a repair with clear limits
Ask what can be assessed, what the proposed charge includes and how parts or a changed fault would affect the estimate.
The service described here is repair; a new installation, a building-wide parking system or an ongoing maintenance agreement requires its own confirmation. Review the proposed work with the person authorized for the property before it is approved.
